BOSTON – Several local florists were assigned an impossible task; to create a floral display inspired by cultures, people, and their heritage. If done incorrectly, it can become culturally inappropriate. On the other hand, there is opportunity to visually connect people from all over the world through flowers.

Fleurs de Villes: Voyage is a visual presentation by florists located in Boston, MA. It is a “floral celebration of global destinations”. Some destinations included Portugal, India, and Jamaica. There were 16 different mannequins representing different countries with their fashion and background. These pieces of art will be on display in the Prudential Center from November 2nd until November 6th.

The gratitude for floral beauty is deeply rooted in Boston history. The Boston Public Garden was the first botanical garden in the United States, being created in 1834. This expresses the deep appreciation by both tourists and locals alike.

“It brings you a little joy. You walk in and you don’t expect it. It just kind of makes you happy. It’s amazing what they can do with these flowers.”

– Robert McLaughlin, Boston resident –

Voyage is the most recent presentation from Fleurs de Villes and this is Boston’s first time hosting the floral art. It would not have been able to happen without the florists located straight out of the city. Bloom Coulture, Fleur Events, Just Bloom’d, and many other companies worked hard to bring these creations to life.

The concept of Fleurs de Villes, or “Flowers in Cities”, is creating floral arrangement pop-ups in different communities. Having been represented in 23 cities and 4 countries, the showcases are a very popular attraction. They allow award-winning florists to express their talent through story-telling and floral discovery. Every pop-up event is a series of unique stories to reach larger audiences.

Voyage is a story about diversity; every mannequin display represents a country and it’s culture. It connects with people everywhere and allows them to learn about different customs from different places. It also allows people everywhere to connect visually, just by sharing the common appreciation for the art.

Fleurs de Villes aims to “bring the world together through flowers like never before”. The artists featured in Voyage represented 16 different countries with 16 individual floral displays. They were given the task of curating pieces with flowers expressing diversity in cultures. In seeing the displays, many stopped for pictures and commented on the beauty of them.

The entire beauty of the showcase is that the visual appeal of the flowers allows any audience to appreciate and learn about different cultures. Fleurs de Villes is bringing the world together through flowers by creating the Voyage showcase and can be considered to connect the people of Boston due the mutual appreciation for the floral displays.
