The fantastical world of Dungeons and Dragons is infiltrating Avon High School social spheres.
The tabletop role playing game Dungeons and Dragons has been an escape for many students at AHS. The club intends to gain more members and promote immersive roleplay. Club president Sam Rogers, a senior, said they have been promoting the club through the Oriole Report and other media.
“At the call-out meeting many seemed interested,” said Rogers. “I hope many more students continue playing and going on their own adventures through the game.”
Renewed interest in the club has led to a number of younger students joining. New and old members alike have found a close circle within the club.
“I’ve always wanted to play D&D, but I’ve never had a chance to join a campaign,” said freshman Camille Taylor. “Now, I’ve been able to play with other people and make good friends.”
Tabletop role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons have attracted students from various backgrounds. Many in the club have shown an appreciation for the diversity.
“The community is vast and diverse,” said history teacher and club sponsor Mr. Voss. “Tabletop role playing games create a space for storytelling, for creativity, but mainly for acceptance, and it’s what I enjoy most about the community.”
