The Avon Orioles varsity football team took on Hamilton Southeastern at home on Aug. 31 for their third game of the season. The Orioles won 29-6 against the 1-2 overall Royals. The undefeated Orioles now stand 3-0 overall.

Junior Nick Birch said the student section is always exciting, win or lose.

“It was so lit,” Birch said, “We were chanting all the school chants. It was the best thing ever.”

Birch said Hamilton Southeastern never posed a threat to Avon, proved by the 10 point lead at halftime.

“I don’t even know who they [Hamilton Southeastern] are,” Birch said.

Sophomore Greg Fulayter comes to football games to hang out with friends in the student section.

“I always like hanging out with everyone at football games, it’s a lot of fun,” Fulayter said. “I try to go to all the homes I can, just to hang out with people.”

Fulayter said that although the student section could be unpredictable, it was always worth the trip.

“It’s kind of crazy but that’s okay. You never know what’s really going to happen and it’s just that unexpectedness that is just really exciting,” Fulayter said.

The Orioles take on Brownsburg this Friday, Aug. 7. Like the Avon Orioles, the Brownsburg Bulldogs are undefeated. The two school rivals are the only undefeated teams left in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference.
