The Girls Varsity Volleyball team faced off against Ben Davis on Sept. 24 and Fishers on Sept. 26 in two back to back home games. The Lady Orioles worked together to defeat both opposing teams.

Avon gained an early lead of 1-0 over the Ben Davis Giants and a score of 25-7. The Orioles went on to beat their opponents with an overall match score of 3-0. Similarly, Thursday night the Lady Orioles won against the Fishers Tigers with another overall match score of 3-0. Avon’s won the first two sets by two points.

Junior and setter Aubrey Lenz said that energy and communication were the keys to Avon’s victory.

“When we do these things, we will win every time,” Lenz said.

Lenz said that this season is about rebuilding their team and learning to work together after the loss of their senior teammates.

“This year things definitely [haven’t] come as easily, but we work hard for it,” Lenz said.

Winning isn’t all about the way you play a sport, Lenz said, it’s also about you.

“I make sure I am mentally and physically prepared before I step foot onto the court,” Lenz said.
