Oriole Army Suits Up For Battle

Oriole Army, Avon High School’s student section, aims to show up and show out to every sporting event possible.

Every year, new senior student section leaders are elected by the senior class before them. The senior leaders of 2024-2025, Austin Krueger, Lauren Kruse, Isabelle Brown, and Audrey Eagle, intend to recruit more soldiers for the Oriole Army this school year.

“This year, I’m expecting the student section to include everyone and to increase our school spirit,” Kruse said.

With games and events comes themes. Confirmed themes for the 2024 fall football season will include Hawaiian on Aug. 30, Neon on Sept. 6, USA on Sept. 13, White Lie on Sept. 20, Gold Out on Sept. 27, Black Out on Oct. 4, Pink Out on Oct. 11, PJ Party on Oct. 18, and Ski Trip on Nov. 1. Krueger said it’s important for the seniors to dress on theme every game in order to set an example for the rest of the army.

“My favorite theme is Hawaiian which is Aug. 30. A close second is PJ party because it will be somewhat cold, and we haven’t really done this theme,” said Brown.

While the leaders encourage students to attend games and bring the energy, there is order to be upheld in the stands. Kruse said she favors the army’s class-determined seating.

“I like the idea of having seniors in the front because I think that the senior class should be leaders of the school and encourage everyone to be involved,” said Kruse.

The first home football game of the season will take place on Aug. 30. Kruse said she’s looking to increase school spirit and grow the Oriole Army to include more students.

“I’m really excited for this season,” Kruse said. “I think everyone is excited and ready to watch and play.”
