“I FEEL GREAT!”, echoed through the main gym as student leaders pumped their fists and applauded.
On Wednesday, Aug. 21, a small group of club presidents, and Student Government members, all gathered in the upper main gym of the high school to discuss something that they all have in common—the trait of leadership.
Youth leadership speaker and founder of Weise Training and Development Ted Weise came to speak to around 40 individuals who represent the Avon High School student body about what it takes to be a leader, along with how to improve leading at school and in life.
“I love working with students to get them to realize the positive impact they can make through their leadership skills,” Weise said.
Throughout the conference, Weise worked with students by doing different types of games and activities to keep the students engaged and to actively team build, such as a hula hoop contest, a paper puzzle, and a grouping game.
“I thought the grouping game activity was a lot of fun,” Weise said. “Seeing all the students being able to form their groups and compete made a lot of fun memories for me.”
Throughout all the activities for the day, junior Ishneet Ghotra participated and built up her leadership knowledge. Ghotra attended the event to help her with her leadership positions in both Student Government and the Bring Change to Mind club.
“It was a fun experience that helped me learn leadership skills and meet a lot of new and exciting people,” Ghotra said.
