Tales from the Stall: The Wild World of School Bathrooms

From full-on TikTok dance sessions to missing toilet paper, Avon High School bathrooms are more than just hand dryers and questionable graffiti. Whether it’s a broken stall lock, students loitering, or the occasional mysterious noise, there are plenty of stories about the most unusual bathroom experiences.

“There have been multiple times when I go to the upper B Hall bathroom, and there is no toilet paper in any of the stalls,” senior Jordyn Henderson said. “So, I’m living in shame after I leave the bathroom.”

The struggle for basic bathroom necessities is just one of many odd experiences Henderson said she has faced. Some restrooms have an eerie atmosphere that makes students think twice before stepping inside.

“The lower D Hall bathroom makes me feel like I’ve stepped into another dimension. It feels like I’m in the back rooms,” Henderson said. “I avoid it at all costs because I feel like I’m being watched.”

This uneasy feeling isn’t the only thing that makes certain bathrooms infamous. Some students still remember when bathroom disasters weren’t just talked about—they were shared on social media.

“I remember my freshman year when they had that one Instagram page where they just posted all the messes in the bathroom,” Henderson said. “When the ‘devious licks’ were happening, bathrooms were just destroyed.”

Social media may have captured the aftermath of bathroom chaos, but some moments are too bizarre to be caught on camera. Senior Harrison Clouse said he once overheard an impromptu recording session.

“I hear these two guys walk in, and I’m like, okay, that’s fine,” Clouse said. “Then I hear a beat track start playing, and one guy starts rapping on top of it. This went on for about eight minutes.”

For Clouse, some bathrooms are avoided because of their condition, but others have a reputation for strange events. The downstairs L Hall bathroom near the cafeteria is one he said he wishes to avoid.

“Every time I go to that bathroom during study hall, I experience odd encounters that seem unbelievable,” Clouse said. “These moments always make the funniest stories.”
