In between classes, on the bus, at home, and everywhere else, students have their heads bent down, captivated by what they see on their phones. The reason for all this? Block Blast!
For some people, they play as a replacement for other addictive apps like social media, whether it’s before classes or just randomly throughout the day.
“I get bored in class, and I don’t want to be on social media, and it’s probably like my favorite game on my phone, so I always play it,” said sophomore Maddison Brown.
For some people, it’s more about the competitiveness that the game brings. Sophomore Maya Riggs said that it’s about the competition with herself to beat her own high score on the game, and because the app is easy to get hooked on.
“I play it because it’s lowkey addicting and I want to beat my high score,” said Riggs.
Freshman Carleigh Holland said she also plays because she finds the game captivating and challenging to beat.
“I personally play block blast because it’s super fun and addictive in my opinion,” said Holland. “I like that there is always a score to beat and with the challenges it has on the game you can play,” Riggs, Brown, and Holland said that it is an app regularly used, and they all play it at least once daily, while both Brown and Holland said they play it at least once during every class
period during the school day.
“I play it every day, and I probably play it at least like once every period of the day, so at least seven times a day,” said Brown.
However, Holland said she plays it quite a bit more, she plays it all through school, and so much so that her phone has given her a weekly average update.
“I normally play throughout the day whenever I have time, or in the morning before my classes start. Also, I’ve had a weekly average of at least three hours,” Holland said.
