Inspired by the “Humans of New York” series that featured a portrait and short anecdote from everyday people in New York City, we sent out our reporters to stop people in the hallways to take their picture and ask them to share something personal about themselves.

What’s something that bothers you and why?
“I think how I care for others, and how much I think about what others could be going through- things that nobody knows. It kind of bothers me that people don’t know that because I don’t think a lot of people know that, but I wish people did.”
What makes you the happiest in life?
“My friends and my family bring me a lot of joy when I can spend time with them.”

What is one thing you’d tell your past self?
“Don’t be afraid, just be confident, because eventually, you’re going to have to do what you need to do. It’s better to get rid of it now than later. There was one time when I wasn’t confident, in the sixth grade, I was doing something, and I eventually had to do it again, the long way. I wish I was more confident so that I could express myself.”
