What inspired you to join MSA, and what led you to become president?
I wanted a community at school where Muslims from different backgrounds and perspectives could come together. That sense of unity inspired me to join, and eventually I wanted to contribute more, which led me to become president.
What is the mission or main goal of MSA at this school?
Our main goal is to ensure everyone feels included and has a supportive community for themselves.
Can you walk us through a typical MSA meeting or event?
Usually, we start with snacks and a slideshow, then play a game or discuss a topic. We also include other activities to keep things engaging.
How does MSA support Muslim students, especially during important times like Ramadan or Eid?
We provide a space where students know they’re not alone while fasting, and we host events for Ramadan and Eid to celebrate together.
What challenges has the club faced this year?
Planning new events that appeal to a larger student body has been the biggest challenge, especially with more students joining this year.
How do you promote inclusion for non-Muslim students who want to get involved?
We make sure nobody is judged and welcome anyone who wants to join without hesitation.
Are there any upcoming events or initiatives you’re excited about?
We’re planning a club fair in the gym in a few weeks, featuring foods from different cultures. After that, we’ll hold our first general meeting for all members.
What kind of long-term impact do you hope to leave on MSA after your presidency?
I hope to leave a positive impact on everyone and ensure the club continues to thrive after my term.
What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
I play pickleball.
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?
I’d choose Alexander Hamilton.
What’s your go-to comfort food during finals week?
Ramen. It’s quick and easy to make.
How do you balance school, club leadership, and your personal life?
I follow a schedule with daily tasks to make sure everything gets done while maintaining balance.
What quote or saying motivates you?
“Just do it,” from Nike.
If you weren’t involved in MSA, what club or activity would you join instead?
I’d join a volunteering club since I enjoy giving back in my free time.
