Why did you choose to join marching band?
I fell in love with music, and I wanted to do more with my friends and music.
What keeps you coming back each season?
Honestly, I’d say the people. I mean the music’s great. I love the directors, but it’s really the people I’m marching with.
Who are some of those people that make band special?
My seniors from last year, Jolie Biddle one of my favorite people I’ve ever marched with, of course, my fellow seniors, sometimes my sophomores, they’re a little annoying sometimes, but hey.
What are some of your biggest highlights from each of your seasons?
From the show Bloodlines in 2022, I was just sitting on the bus after grand nationals, not wanting it to be over with Etta and all of my other freshman friends… they’ve been through as much of it as I had.
What are your biggest motivations for band?
To make an impact on the world whether it be a smile on the subway, maybe a whisper in the dark, or maybe a hug that helps a heartache. There’s a million different ways that it can start… I just want to make a difference in the world. I want people to be happy, that’s what I strive to do.
What are your future plans in music?
I plan to go into music education. So major music education minor in either composition or music theory. I’d like to stay in Indiana maybe eventually work at Avon… I plan to either go to right now IU Bloomington or Ball State, but Indiana State University is my backup.
What are the responsibilities of being a section leader?
Organizing all of our things, me and my fellow seniors… We do the baskets for the community days, we find designs for the shirts, we try to find stuff the section can do together… all together we want to make the season a good one to remember.
Aside from band are you in any other activities or clubs?
I am in the National Honor Society, it’s actually really interesting it’s doing stuff around your community to show that Avon exemplifies its academic prowess as well as the enjoyment of the students and the inclusivity of Avon itself.
Do you have a job and what’s it like to keep that up along with your other responsibilities?
I do, I work at Fazolis, typically, Mondays Fridays and Sundays five to ten… It’s hard, just last night I stayed up until about midnight making sure i got work done for various AP classes… it’s a challenge… of course NHS, I gotta have community service hours, and that’s going to be a struggle but I keep pushing, just keep getting through it.
What are some of your favorite subjects?
I mean, besides music, I’d say history. For a good period of time, I was very engrossed in history of like genetics and biology and itself, animals and zoology… History in a whole was my career plan before I switched to music.
What TV shows or movies do you watch and what do you do in your free time?
I watch some shows, not a whole lot of TV and stuff like that. I play a lot of video games, typically Subnautica, or other horror games. Sometimes I watch YouTube, and I often sleep.
