State your name and what club and what your position Is?

My name is Hannah Foster and I’m the student body president.

What is Student Government?

It is the club that’s in charge of running all the major school events. So, events like homecoming, prom, teacher appreciation week, we run all of those and we help keep the student body involved.

What are some requirements for the club?

You have to be elected, so you have to be voted for by both your teachers and by your peers. But you also have to show that you want to be involved in the school, and you care about. Events and about keeping the student body engaged.

What are your meetings like and how often do?

There’s two different groups in government. We have the Student Government Senate and then we have the Student Government Executive Board. For the Student Government Senate, we meet every other week on Tuesday morning for about 30 minutes and we start planning for events like homecoming, prom, and we just get student body input and start working on planning. The Executive Board meets every Tuesday and we work on the logistics, we work with the money, and we make sure that every Senate member knows what they’re supposed to be doing.

What are some things such as events your club runs or is involved in?

Some of our big events we do are homecoming and prom, we have our Riley Dance Marathon, which is a big part of what we do. Additionally, we have event like teacher appreciation, we have blood drive, things like that.

How many members does your club have or what is the limit?

Our club has 34 members, It’s 24 Senate members, three Riley Dance Marathon board members, and seven executive members.

I’m involved in a lot of outside of school. I volunteer at my church every week and I have a job at Charbono’s as a Hostess.

Why did you decide to join this club and what made you want to be the position You are in?

I decided to join this club going into my freshman year because I love leading people and I love being involved with my school and I like the impact that I’m able to make. I’ve been a part of student government for four years and the reason I decided to run for student body president is that student government has made a huge impact on my life and I love being able to give back to my student body.

What qualities do you have that makes you a good president?

I am very organized and responsible. You’ll never catch me without my planner. Additionally, I am a good leader and I listen. It’s really important that we actively listen to what our Senate members believe and what they have to say. That way we can do the actions necessary to best represent our student body.

And lastly, how would you describe yourself as a president?

I describe myself as a very responsible leader and someone who really cares about the people that I work with.
