The Homecoming dance is always a highlight for students at Avon High School.
The Homecoming dance is a dance to celebrate your school spirit, hang with your friends and maybe even your significant other! The dance will take place on Sept. 19. from 7:00p.m. to10:00p.m. at Avon High School. The theme for Homecoming is Under the Sea; it’s an ocean, cool, nice vibe.
You’re most likely wondering how much it is to get into the dance. Student Body President Hannah Foster said the tickets for the Homecoming dance will be on sale shortly and will cost around $20.00. $20.00 for food, the dance, hours of hanging out with my friends and a DJ sounds like a deal!
“Tickets will be posted online on Schoology on that main course page where all the club updates go,” Foster said. “There will be a link that will take you to event link where you can purchase your tickets. There will also be posters up around the school as we get into September that have a QR code that you can scan, obviously after or before school, to purchase tickets.”
Many students have friends or a partner from another school, like Plainfield, Danville or Indianapolis. Or maybe you have a partner or friend who’s homeschooled and doesn’t go to school. Many students want to know if they can bring them to Homecoming; Jade Price, a member of the student body, has the answer.
“Homecoming is Avon students only,” Price said. “It’s times like prom where you get to bring students from other schools.”
Now it’s the time to ask: What do I wear? Maybe a suit or dress, casual clothes or even pajamas if you’re feeling it. Maybe you want to dress like Darth Vadar, Gandolf, Batman, or even George Washington! Well, Hannah Foster is back to confirm what you can wear!
“The dress code for homecoming; most people usually wear formal attire. So, for girls it would be like dresses and guys it would be suits,” Foster said. “Funnily enough, we’ve had some people show up in some really interesting things over the years. I know a couple years ago we had a guy show up in a Spider-Man costume.”
Foster said that the Homecoming dance is a great chance to hang out with friends you might have classes with but is also a great chance to interact with people from different classes and grades.
“It’s a great opportunity to really build school spirit and show what Avon School body is really all about!” said Foster.
