Everyone in life needs something to cope with. Some people choose books or art, while can be combined with that, the majority combine it with music. Students at Avon High School can say they love music. However, students can either listen to it for vibes or do they truly connect to it.

Listening to music is a very common activity for sophomore Autumn Manning who listens to music a lot, but how often? “Every day, because I use the same playlist every single day to go to sleep. I can’t sleep without my beautiful music.” She listens to music day and night, not exaggerated, because it’s a connection to it.

The students of Avon High School rely heavily on music. After the phone ban, many students acquired MP3 players to listen to their music even without their phones. Their music not only can be a distraction, but possibly allow them to connect to it.

People all have reasons why they listen to music. Sophomore Gemma Shirley feels deeply to her music as a person who listens to it constantly, and how she feels and resonates with the music. “Music has deep connections with people, especially when people focus a lot on lyrics so anytime they hear music that has lyrics that they resonate to or like they’ll listen to it a lot.” The reason she feels and others listen to music is because they feel and connect to it deeply.

Relating to words is almost like when humans relate to humans. The relatability or the safe space they can possibly feel truly can resonate with the person they are speaking to or in this case the music they listen to. The spectrum and emotions they can feel can be deep, but is it deep for the students at Avon Highschool.

However, music doesn’t even need relatability; it could just need an escape that has that human touch to it. As sophomore Kynlee Cody who is an avid listener feels the boost or emotion music can bring with it. “It’s a huge mood booster and so people that struggle with mental health, music can help a lot because it can distract you and also boost your mood because it’s like something you like.”

Experts from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, say listening to music during exercise can help to release endorphins to boost your mood and distract you from the discomfort you may feel in everyday life. That could be a possible explanation onto why students at Avon High School rely on it to get through their day.

People around the globe listen to music because it gives some sort of escape and freedom from everyday life. It gives people a sense of relief and allows their thoughts to be away or allows them to relate to every word. Whether it’s the relatability of a song or the ability to be taken to another world by the song, music is listened to by many in which it gives many the opportunity to have a sense of freedom in their everyday life .
