“Keep chasing your dreams and always stay true to yourself.” That was Senior Chloe Rickenbach’s final take away after four years of Avon Volleyball. The girls wrapped up their last home game of the season with senior night on Thursday, Sept. 27. For some, it was their last time playing volleyball at Avon High School. The Avon Orioles walked off their homecourt with a win against Westfield High School.

“From a playing standpoint, we played the same, we kept our composure but from an emotional standpoint, I think it was [different] just because we all knew this was out last time playing together at Avon,” Rickenbach said.

Coming off her final win at Avon, Rickenbach said that she felt sad yet honored to have played as an Oriole.

“This program is so great. I couldn’t imagine doing this with any other group of people.” Rickenbach said.

Twins Erin and Elise Carmichael also won at home for the last time on senior night. Senior Erin Carmichael said it’s outstanding to play with someone who she shares such a close bond with.

“Every single practice and every single game I’ve been playing with her. I’m so blessed to have someone on the court who knows who I am, inside and out. It’s just been amazing and I can’t believe it’s already over,” Erin Carmichael said.

Erin Carmichael said that a lot of emotions had been leading up to the senior’s last game at Avon High School.

“It’s just so hard to believe that these four years have gone by so fast and it’s our last game here.” Erin Carmichael said. “I can’t believe it’s over.”
