On Feb. 20, Avon’s JV and Varsity Boys’ Basketball played against the Martinsville Artesians. With senior night festivities and the jazz band playing, it was no surprise to see the teams pumped up as they played their best.
JV ended their season with a score of 49 to 21, with Avon leading. Sophomore Zion Lindsey explained how they were never quite worried about the score as the game went on.
“I feel like it was a good end [to the season] because we were 18 to 3. I don’t think most JV teams are that good in Avon,” Lindsey said.
As for varsity, the final score landed at 67 to 42. In the third quarter, Avon started to slip behind but still won at the end of the night. With Martinsville having some good shooters, Coach Holloway explained he was a little worried, but knew if the players did their jobs, everything would be fine.
“Our seniors got to play well in their last home game in their career here at Avon. Everyone played well and played hard,” Holloway said.
