Avon Orioles Beat Ben Davis Giants at Home

Week two of the Indiana high school football season opened up Friday, August 29 as our Orioles welcomed the Giants of Ben Davis into tow.

Junior running back Chrishon McCray got the crowd going with a touchdown with five minutes left in the first quarter. Senior kicker Nick Bandy nailed the extra point and Avon had the lead 7-0. Early in the second, the Giants’s defense picked off senior quarterback Henry Hesson and took it back to the house to make the score 7-6, after a failed two-point conversion. This lit a spark in the Oriole offense as they went ahead to score 47 straight points! Ben Davis had no response until late in the fourth quarter when they finally found the endzone on offense and hit the point after, putting the score at 54-13. This would be the final score of the game as our Orioles snag their first win of the season and improve to 1-1 as the Giants fall to 0-2. Both Hesson and McCray ended up having three touchdowns each, sophomore Jaiden Jones added a rushing touchdown, and junior Isaac Castro caught an interception and returned it for a pick six.

A confident Oriole squad will be at home again next Friday, September 4th, against another 1-1 team who is coming off a one-point loss, in Hamilton Southeastern.
