Q&A with Star Kicker Carson Holmer

Kyle Morgan | Reporter

Q: Why did you start playing football?

A: I started playing football because I could always kick a soccer ball very far and thought maybe I should try and transition to kicking a football.

Q: What are your goals for this season?

A: My goals for this season are to go 9-0 in the regular season and then carry that on through the post season and win a state championship.

Q: What has been your favorite memory of football so far in your career?

A: [My] favorite memory so far playing football was my freshman year when we played Brownsburg in Sectionals and beat them 38-0.

Q: How was your experience at Kohl’s kicking camps?

A: I love going to Kohl’s kicking camps. Not only do I get to go there to learn and get better, but I also get to compete against some of the top guys in the nation and that’s a great time.

Q: Who’s your favorite kicker or punter in the NFL?

A: Although he is retired, it has to be Pat McAfee. He is one of the greatest punters of all time and probably one of the funniest people of all time. He also played for the Colts so it was always great to watch him.

Q: How do you pump yourself up before an important kick or punt?

A: Before I go out there, I always think of what’s the best thing that could happen and the feeling I get when it does. So, I would say that kind of pumps me up a little bit knowing if I do my job I can get praised.

Q: Who have you looked up to on the team?

A: [Graduate] Mason Miller and [senior] Nick Bandy have always been guys that I looked up to. They are both very good at what they do, and I loved being able to work with them.
