Annie Rinehart, the president of GSA (Genders & Sexualities Alliance), is a junior here at Avon High School. She has been in this club for three years, been an officer for two, and this is her first year as the president. The sponsors of GSA are Mrs. Neal and Senora Steppe. Rinehart joined this club because she wanted to “get out of [her] shell” and since her aunt, Senora Steppe, is one of the sponsors of this club, she recommended it to her for her to join it, and she agreed.

Rinehart’s goal for the club is “to be a safe space for everyone and to bring people together.” GSA is a place for everyone to enjoy and for people in the LGBTQ+ community to find fellow queer and like-minded people to become friends with. In this club, what they do just depends on how the people in the club are feeling; some meetings are more serious and informative, while others are more chill, hangout-like meetings.

In her free time, Rinehart describes hanging out with her friends and being a pageant queen, which she enjoys. She is not a part of any other clubs and is thinking about going into law as a major but is not completely sure yet. Rinehart stated that her top three favorite subjects are Spanish, history, and English.
