Who founded the chemistry club? 

Michael Zhou and I, we are co-presidents together and co-founders. 

Why did you decide to start the chemistry club? 

I’m looking at chemistry as a career, and I have already taken a bunch of chemistry classes, so I want to help other people also enjoy chemistry because it is a popular class but a lot of people don’t like it, so I am trying to make it more accessible and fun. 

What does a typical club meeting look like? 

Each meeting will be different, we’re going to have some guest speakers who are in chemistry fields, or we will have labs and study sessions for the Chemistry Olympiad and the AP exam. 

Who is the teacher sponsor? 

Mrs. Kozinski is our sponsor.

How many members do you have as of now? 

Right now, we have somewhere between 30 and 40 members, and we have like 14 applicants for officers and only four open spots. 

How are you going to elect your officers? 

There is an application where they said what classes they took and what role they wanted, just like an outreach to get people to come in and speak. Then they have to write a paragraph on why they want to be in the club, why they would be good in their role, and ideas they have. 

Where do you want to study chemistry in the future? 

I think Purdue University is good; there is also the University of Chicago, but I don’t know if I can get in. 

What specifically do you want to major in? 

There are a lot of fields for chemistry, so I’m not sure yet, maybe something environmental, or pharmaceutical. 

What is your favorite cake flavor? 

Strawberry- that’s easy. 

What do you like to do in your free time outside of school? 

I play tennis every day, also orchestra, and I’m also in rock-climbing club.
