This Nov. 28 and 29, all seven of Avon’s choirs performed at various downtown Indianapolis locations including the NCAA Hall of Champions, Indiana State Museum, and Indianapolis Arts Garden.

There were two performance groups with an all-female ensemble made up of the Black and Gold and Allegros choirs and the Attraction show choir singing on Tuesday while a mixed ensemble made up of the Chamber SingersOriole, and Symphonic choirs and the Accents show choir sang on Wednesday.

Senior Lily Wendell, a section leader for the Accents show choir, said that this opportunity that comes yearly is something that is important to everyone involved.

“I really love the State Museum. It’s a place that I go with my family all the time,” said Wendell. “It means a lot to me that I get to go perform there.”

The choirs each performed an individual piece they’ve been working on since as early as September in addition to multiple group numbers including Jingle Bells, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, and Deck the Halls.

“I just love[d] getting to sing carols for people with our choir,” said Wendell. “It was amazing.”

All seven of the Avon choirs will be performing their Christmas carols and performance pieces again this Dec. 15 at their annual Sounds of the Season concert.
